Camp d'Argelers

Nearly two and a half years of pain and suffering passed between February 1939 and September 1941. Surviving the harsh conditions of the countryside was one way to fight against Franco. At first there were no huts, no latrines, no medical services, no water, no food…The women were constantly harassed, and the babies died. Through the testimony of those who endured it and the reconstruction of the situations that were not portrayed by the archival images, this documentary recounts the daily life of the Spanish republican refugees until they were ultimately sent to other concentration camps in September 1941 and the Argelers camp was closed down.
